Conference Leeds has joined Leeds in celebrating the arrival of The One Dance UK Conference, which took place in the city. The annual conference was hosted at the Leeds College of Music, Yorkshire Dance and Northern Ballet, as well as at two of Leeds’ most popular conferencing venues, including Leeds Beckett University, where the conference made use of excellent conferencing facilities for learning, plenaries and keynote speeches.

Organised by One Dance UK in partnership with the Leeds Dance Partnership, this year’s conference saw around 300 delegates visit the city to participate in provoking discussions and debates on real life issues that affect dancers.. Inspirational guest speakers including Artistic Director of world-famous Northern Ballet, David Nixon, led a series of keynote speeches that were aimed to inspire delegates. As well as presentations and seminars , visitors attended other sessions that explored topics including narratives in black British dance, dance as a tool for learning and facilitating boys dance.

The delegates who attended the conference thoroughly enjoyed being in Leeds, an international centre of excellence for dance ,and being able to network with colleagues from all over the UK. The facilities available at our chosen venues surpassed our expectations, we would love to return to Leeds in the future to make use of them again.”

Leeds is a culturally significant city that has a close connection to the dance industry, being home to some significant dance establishments including Northern Ballet, Yorkshire Dance and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, which made it even more exciting to host this year’s One Dance UK conference. We’re proud to have worked alongside the conference to inspire young dancers and to have hosted the event at Leeds Beckett University, a venue with fantastic facilities that the dance conference delegates made great use of.
