Leeds’ healthcare sector shines as British Association of Indian Anaesthetists heads to the city

ConferenceLeeds is celebrating its healthcare sector this month, after announcing that the British Association of Indian Anaesthetists (BAOIA) has selected the city for its 2016 conference on the 30th September and 1st October. The conference is expected to bring approximately 200 national delegates to Leeds from across the medical and healthcare sectors.

The two-day conference and workshop, which will be held at The Royal Armouries will include talks from industry leading medical professionals as well as trade stands sponsored by over 20 medical related companies. The event also includes a charity dinner with 500 guests, including attendance from the Consul General of India and Indian cricket legend, Sunil Gavaskar. ConferenceLeeds worked with the BAOIA to develop initial costs, as well as arrange site visits with The Royal Armouries.

As home to four out of the five most important NHS bodies, the Leeds City Region’s healthcare sector is recognised as one of the strongest in the country. Leeds will also play host to the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons during September.

Jennifer Young, Head of ConferenceLeeds, commented:
“The British Association of Indian Anaesthetists is the prime opportunity for us to not only highlight our sector strength in healthcare, but also to show the diversity that is so prevalent in Leeds. The city’s expertise in the medical and healthcare sector continues to shine and this is something that we as a city are very proud of. Overall this win was a fantastic example of collaboration and partnership working between the client, our team and the team at The Royal Armouries.”

Velupandian Guruswamy, Organising Secretary at BAOIA, said:
“We knew that Leeds had a strong presence in the medical and healthcare sector, which is what initially spiked our interest, and we already had a very strong working relationship with ConferenceLeeds. After looking into it, it was the unique venues available in Leeds that met our needs perfectly and the support that was on offer from ConferenceLeeds was second-to-none.”
