Summer School Success At Well Met

Well Met are delighting in the success that the summer months brought the Leeds Beckett University conferencing team, which saw them rack up over 30,000 bed nights across July and August, along with 95% of delegates requiring full catering services throughout their stay.

Traditionally the busiest time of year for academic venues, summer affords Well Met with a variety of additional space to hold conferences, events and residentials between June and September. With two distinctly different campuses and a number of affordable halls of residence at its disposal, Well Met capitalises on the relatively short season to host summer schools for a variety of organisations. This year saw, among others, Rotherham United National Citizen Service, TWIN, Go Languages Worldwide and the largest single annual conference for Leeds – Teach First Summer Institute, pass through the doors.

As well as providing excellent facilities which include state-of-the-art AV in classrooms, lecture theatres and halls, along with three AA star accredited accommodation at Carnegie Village, top class sports facilities and entertainment spaces, Well Met’s catering offering has been cited as a key strength of Well Met’s offering.

David Parker, Catering and Retail Operations Manager at Well Met comments on the changes his team made in order to help secure the return of the Teach First conference to Leeds: “This year we welcomed the newest cohort of Teach First delegates and a huge part of their requirements for the conference centred around offering a variety of menu options, including lots of healthy dishes. We created a bespoke menu specifically for this conference to ensure that lunchtime included more healthy choices, including long-release carbohydrates and lean proteins.”

Clare Vidler, Conference Manager at Well Met comments: “Summer is absolutely our busiest time of year and summer schools are a key part of our business, so it’s really important that we are always looking to improve and adapt our offering to suit the needs of our customers. Not only this, but for many of our foreign summer school delegates, this is their first experience of Leeds so we work closely with organisers to ensure that they get the most out of their stay.”
