The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ National Trainees Conference comes to Leeds for the first time

ConferenceLeeds is celebrating Leeds’ continuously flourishing healthcare sector as the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) has chosen the city to host its National Trainees Conference for the first time. The annual conference will be taking place from the 16th – 17th November at the Royal Armouries International, bringing 200 delegates to the city.

The RCOG works to improve healthcare for women by setting standards, training and educating doctors, and advocating for women’s health worldwide. The annual conference is held for trainees of all levels and comprises two days of clinical talks with leading experts, scientific debates, networking opportunities and a chance for delegates to showcase their own work.

ConferenceLeeds supported the RCOG Yorkshire committee in the initial bid to bring the conference to the city, and once Leeds was chosen above other locations, organised site visits to find the perfect venue. The society wanted to bring a flavour of Yorkshire to the conference and with ConferenceLeeds’ expert knowledge of the city, it allowed them to do just that by finding the perfect venue.

Jessica Letters, Meetings Manager at the RCOG, commented:
“We are really looking forward to holding our National Trainees Conference in Leeds this year. The local committee in Yorkshire was extremely keen to bring the conference to the city and its thoughtful and careful planning helped win the bid. ConferenceLeeds played a vital part in offering its expertise in terms of venue selection, which made our lives a lot easier! We were eager to add a flavour of Yorkshire to the conference, and with many local experts attending, it should be an engaging event!”

Jennifer Young, Head of ConferenceLeeds, commented: “We are very pleased that the RCOG has decided to host its National Trainees Conference in Leeds, demonstrating the strength of the healthcare sector here in the city. It has taken careful thought and organisation alongside the RCOG’s Yorkshire committee and we are really happy that we were integral in bringing the conference here and finding a brilliant venue for them with the Royal Armouries International.”
