Well Met Hosts 13th Annual IEEC Conference at Leeds Beckett’s Rose Bowl

Well Met, the conferencing office of Leeds Beckett University is pleased to host the 13th annual International Entrepreneurship Educators Conference (IEEC2018) at the Rose Bowl Campus from Wednesday 5th to Friday 7th September.

The leading global three-day forum for enterprise and entrepreneur educators and practitioners is highly regarded for its participatory style and wide range of educator-led interactive sessions, together with keynote sessions led by inspirational global experts.

IEEC2018 is organised by Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK), the leading independent membership network for enterprise and entrepreneurship educators. Established in 2001, EEUK has 107 institutional members, most of which are UK universities and colleges. The organisation enables excellence by connecting enterprise educators and practitioners to learn from and inspire each other to develop their practice.

Clare Vidler, Conference Manager, Well Met, said: “Although this is the first time the conference has been held here, Leeds Beckett University has a long-standing reputation for supporting graduate enterprise and entrepreneurship. In the last 15 years, the University has supported over 800 businesses through a network of University Business Centres in the region.

“We are delighted to welcome such prestigious international visitors who are experts in their field. The Well Met team will be doing everything possible to ensure that they have a productive and enjoyable event.”

Conference Director, Kate Beresford, said: “We have been running the conference since 2006 and anticipate over 300 delegates over the three days. They can expect to learn, contribute and connect with old and new colleagues and be inspired to try new approaches. Participants will leave the event equipped with knowledge, tools and best practice to maximise the impact of their work.

“We have a packed schedule throughout the three days and highlights include a keynote from our new Patron of Enterprise Educators UK, Lord Karan Bilmoria, co-founder and Chairman of Cobra beer. We’ll be launching a new Fellowship on day one of the conference. We will also announce the winners of our National Enterprise Educator Awards at the gala dinner.”

There is an international flavour to the keynote speakers, featuring Jing Zhang, China Chief Representative of the UK Higher Education Academy (Advance HE), Dr Martin Lackéus, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, who will discuss a ‘high tension approach’ to designing an entrepreneurial university and Professor Hideyuki Horii, Executive Director, i.school and Emeritus Professor, University of Tokyo, to name but a few.

IEEC2018 is aimed at Higher Education and Further Education enterprise and entrepreneurship educators and practitioners, senior leaders, influencers and policy makers as well as incubators and enterprise centre managers and staff that support venture creation and growth. Content is equally suitable for researcher developers and project managers that support start-ups and SMEs.
