Facilities Manager, Northern Ballet
Reason for nomination: Shaun and his team of facilities management professionals were integral to the safe and organised manner in which staff and users vacated the building and collected equipment to set up new working from home environments following the national lockdown in March 2020.
During this lockdown, Shaun ensured there were no interruptions in the continuous maintenance of the buildings and in August, formed part of a return-to-work team who devised new risk assessments and health and safety policies to start the gradual return of dancers, classes and administration staff. Shaun also installed new sanitising stations and introduced fogging and other specialised cleaning processes for dance studios to ensure no cross contamination between users.
Few arts and culture organisations have been able to open or attempt to perform since March 2020, however thanks to the safe building environment maintained by Shaun and his team, Northern Ballet’s professional dancers were able to return to rehearsals in September.
During the second and third lockdown, Shaun’s dedication has enabled priority Academy classes to continue, dancers to return to training, rehearsal and performance, and administration staff to return to the building to access key equipment. As such, he has been an incredible team player and has supported everyone connected with the building for which we are incredibly grateful.
