Conference Leeds celebrates Leeds’ healthcare sector, following the success of recent Physiological Society event

Conference Leeds is celebrating the recent success of The Physiological Society’s ‘Future Physiology’ conference, which was attended by 200 delegates and held for the first time in Leeds. The event took place at The University of Leeds and the Met Hotel, in a bid to inspire and enthuse attendees who are beginning their careers in Physiology, and further demonstrating Leeds’ strength in the healthcare sector.

The Physiological Society is made up of over 3,500 scientists from over 60 countries. Since its foundation in 1876, its members have made significant contributions to our knowledge of biological systems and the treatment of disease. The conference, titled ‘Future Physiology’, was a two-day event held at the University of Leeds, organised to give early-career researchers the opportunity to present their research work and further their skills through career development workshops, expert panels and networking sessions.

ConferenceLeeds played a significant role in facilitating the success of the evening event by organising the conference dinner for the 200 attendees at The Met Hotel, with many also choosing to stay there for the duration of the conference. The Met, located in Leeds’ city centre, is a luxurious Grade II listed building, perfectly positioned with transport links for all delegates.

Sarah Bundock, Events and Marketing Manager from The Physiological Society, commented: “We chose Leeds for a number of reasons. Not only does the University have strong links with academia and healthcare, it’s also easily accessible for those travelling from around the country and overseas. It was also important that venues were in walking distance from one other and Leeds was perfect for that. The Met also worked ideally for the conference dinner, conveniently just a short five minute walk from Leeds Train Station. Organisation was made much easier with the assistance and advice from ConferenceLeeds who were extremely helpful with their knowledge of the city, especially as we’d never held the conference in Leeds. The event ran very smoothly and was really beneficial for the early career researchers.”
