Conference Leeds celebrates second healthcare win in two months as the British Society for Rheumatology’s Autumn Conference comes to the city

The healthcare sector in Leeds continues to shine as ConferenceLeeds celebrates the British Society for Rheumatology’s (BSR) Autumn Conference coming to the city for the first time. The conference will be taking place from 11th – 12th October at the Royal Armouries International and will see over 200 delegates come to the city.

ConferenceLeeds played a significant role in bringing the conference to the city by assisting in sourcing a venue for the conference and dinner, with the dinner being held at Crafthouse in Leeds. Alongside this, ConferenceLeeds advised on accommodation for the keynote speakers, using its expert knowledge of the city to find the most suitable arrangements.

The conference brings together the entire rheumatologic profession, with this year’s programme focusing on chronic pain in rheumatology; crystal arthropathies; psoriatic arthritis and pregnancy and rheumatic diseases. Each topic will have a lecture dedicated to it, with delegates asked to submit case reports to help form the rest of the interactive sessions. With Leeds being home to the UK’s largest NHS trust, the biggest teaching hospital in Europe and headquarters to four out of the five NHS bodies, the conference gives those who attend the ideal setting to share and exchange clinical best practice in a centre for excellence.

Daisy Southam, Event Manager for the BSR, commented:
“We are very excited to be bringing our autumn conference to Leeds for the very first time! The city is a major hub for healthcare, especially for the rheumatology sector, with a major department at the hospital and one of our keynote speakers is also based here. Having been in Bath last year, we wanted to bring the conference up to the North and Leeds seemed a perfect fit. With the help of ConferenceLeeds, we have been able to find a venue that’s perfectly suited to our needs and their expert knowledge really helped when finding accommodation for our keynote speakers.”

Jennifer Young, Head of ConferenceLeeds, commented: “We are delighted that the BSR has selected Leeds for its autumn conference. Healthcare conference wins are coming in thick and fast this year, which is credit to the outstanding network of healthcare professionals and academia we have here.”
