Leeds wins rights to host UKREiiF 2024
After much speculation, Leeds has beaten off a packed field of contenders to host UKREiiF (The UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum) in 2024.
The inaugural event in 2022 defied expectations as thousands of domestic and international developers, investors, councils and built environment thought leaders arrived in Leeds for a three-day facilitation and knowledge share event which enables projects totalling hundreds of millions of pounds to be brought forward across the UK.
With only weeks to go before the hugely anticipated event hits Leeds from the 16th to 18th of May, the UK’s third-largest city has been confirmed as the host for the third year running.
Many attendees were stunned by the size and scale of last year’s event, so much so that in less than 12 months it has rapidly become the UK’s largest industry event for the built environment and investment industries.
With an explosion in popularity from domestic and international investors and developers, there was inevitably a high level of interest from cities and regions across the UK to host the event, yet the organisers Built Environment Networking have remained loyal to the city, extending the event in Leeds for one more year.
Amanda Griffiths, Director at Built Environment Networking, said: “Since the doors opened for the inaugural event in 2022 we have been inundated with interest from cities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and with such as high level of interest it was certainly no easy decision to make.
“But we’re a Leeds based business and the city has supported us throughout the past 24-months to ensure UKREiiF is a huge success, and we therefore wanted to make the commitment for UKREiiF to be held in the city for 2024. The event generated £5.5m in economic return for the city in 2022 and with numbers of delegates almost doubling it’s going to make a major splash for the hospitality and visitor economy this year.”
Tom Riordan CBE, Chief Executive at Leeds City Council, said: “Leeds is a vibrant, inclusive conferencing destination and to play host to UKREIIF for the third year, in 2024, is great news for the city’s economy. Conference Leeds, the city’s long established conferencing bureau will continue to work closely with the organisers to ensure a warm welcome for all attending.”
Leader of Leeds City Council James Lewis added: “We are delighted that Leeds will be the host city for UKREiiF again in 2024. The event added over £5 million to the city’s economy in 4 days last year. This year we will welcome over 6,000 delegates from all over the UK. It’s great news for Leeds as we continue to ensure a great city welcome year after year.”
