Royal Armouries Conference & Events Programme Springs into Action

The Royal Armouries Conference & Events team have been wowing delegates and visitors for almost a quarter of a century.  With 13 versatile spaces that can cater from 20 to 2,500 guests at a time, stunning waterside views and the award-winning Royal Armouries Museum to boot, it’s easy to see why it is the premier awards, events and exhibition space in Leeds.

It began the year with a bang announcing it had secured UKREiiF – a three-day event that brings together Government, investors, funders and developers from regeneration and property sectors and an additional visitor spend of £20m – until at least 2027.  New Dock Hall hosted The Convention of the North recently, the flagship annual gathering for business, political and civic society leaders across the north of England.  April will see the welcome return of the 13th annual Conference & Hospitality Show (CHS Leeds), the largest gathering of hotels, venues, destinations and event suppliers outside of London and the premiere show for event and Meetings, Incentive, Conferences and Events (MICE) professionals across the UK.

New for Spring 2024 is a packed calendar of events with something to suit all tastes – from a Classic Car Show to farmers’ markets, Comicon to gin and craft fairs – taking place at The Square, a new outdoor space between New Dock Hall and the Royal Armouries at Leeds Dock.  The inaugural weekend of outdoor activities kick-started with the Craft and Crust Festival a collection of craft beers, ciders and gins and crusted foods such as pizzas, pies and pastries. This was followed by the first of the monthly Farmers Markets, in collaboration with Little Hummingbird, it’s a fabulous, family-friendly and free event and a great place to catch fresh producers, makers and artisans where you’ll find delicious bits to eat, bespoke gifts and household items and is running once a month from now until October 2024.

Spring/summer weekends at the Armouries are all about the fans.  With over 300 Million people streaming Aime worldwide, it’s easy to see why the Leeds Anime Festival (13th April) is a hugely popular event.  Cosplay fans know their Cowboy Bebop from their Dragon Ball Z characters and can expect an epic celebration of Japanese animation and pop culture.  Fans can enjoy a day filled with anime, manga, cosplay, gaming and talks, plus the queue makes for a fantastic grid shot!

Comic-con (16th June) comes to the Royal Armouries in June where fans can get their fill of film, TV, gaming and comic book culture from a broad-church of sci-fi, superheroes, zombie, fantasy and fulfil their wildest ‘Big Bang Theory’ dreams as they browse through fan-art and collectables and mingle with favourite film or comic book characters.  The hugely popular Gaming Convention (17th August) Yorkshire’s largest gaming convention has already sold out!

The Lego Brick Festival (4th May) is a fan event dedicated to all things brick! It’s a great day for families, collectors, adult builders and every other kind of LEGO fan. With lots to see and do including speed building competitions, large scale displays, activities, traders selling loose bricks, new LEGO sets, retired and pre-loved sets.

The Chevin Motor Club makes a welcome return to the Royal Armouries with its Classic Car Show (9th June).  This is becoming the must-see event for car enthusiasts and petrol-heads of Yorkshire and beyond.  A free all-day event that’s a treat for classic car fans where classic motors of all ages and types are on display, from family saloons to sports, performance and military vehicles, there’s something for every classic car fan.  Visitors to the event are guaranteed ‘fun, fun, fun at the Royal Armouries until the Chevin Motor Club take the T-Bird Away!’

Ben Campbell, Venue Director, said:  “We’ve had a fantastic start to the year with a packed calendar of corporate events, conferences and exhibitions and award ceremonies.  We’ve introduced a number of free outdoor events that really complement what’s going on in the museum.

“These are just a few of the many highlights that visitors to the Royal Armouries can expect to enjoy for the spring/summer season, including a number of free events for the whole family to enjoy for Spring/Summer 2024.”
