Standedge Visitor Centre
The Standedge Visitor Centre is a Grade II listed 18th Century former transhipment warehouse situated on the bank of the canal on a shared site with Standedge tunnel: the highest, longest and deepest canal tunnel in Britain! With its rural waterside location, the fully refurbished Thomas Bourne Room is the ideal choice for hosting conferences, meetings and parties with short guided boat trips into the tunnel as an optional extra. Whatever you choose, you will receive the undivided attention of the staff. Standedge Visitor Centre is an exciting and unusual venue for conferences, meetings, training sessions and other functions. A marquee can be erected in the grounds. Parking: Dedicated parking for Blue Badge Holders only - but ample parking in the main car park adjacent to Marsden Railway Station - 15 minute walk up the towpath or short boat trip away by the Huddersfield Canal Society's shuttle. Public transport : Bus service 335 runs from Holmfirth to Marsden, 349/352 from Huddersfield to Marsden. Northern Rail runs hourly services to Marsden Station. A water taxi service run by Huddersfield Canal Society operates at weekends and Bank Holidays subject to volunteer availability.
